Welcome, and thank you for visiting Adrian Perks Counselling & Psychotherapy
Are you feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges? Perhaps your child is struggling with anxiety or school refusal, or you're an adult grappling with past experiences that still impact your daily life. These feelings are valid, and seeking support is a positive first step.
Whether you're a parent concerned about your child's emotional wellbeing, someone dealing with trauma, or an adult looking to understand yourself better, I'm here to help you navigate this journey.
I provide integrative counselling and psychotherapy services to children (aged 4+), adolescents, and adults. As a UKCP-registered Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist and BACP member, I offer both long and short-term therapy, tailored to your specific needs. My approach combines various therapeutic methods, including EMDR therapy, enabling me to work flexibly with different challenges and concerns.
I specialise in supporting:
Working with children and young people to address emotional challenges, behavioural issues, and family dynamics. I use play-based and talking therapies, offering either individual child sessions or joint parent-child sessions using DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) informed approaches.
A powerful therapeutic approach for processing trauma and difficult experiences. EMDR can help both children and adults move past stuck points and develop new, healthier perspectives on past experiences.
Specialised therapy for adopted adults exploring identity, attachment, and life experiences. Drawing from extensive experience in adoption support services, I provide a safe space to process and understand your unique journey.
Therapy provides a confidential, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings safely. Through our work together, you'll develop better understanding of yourself and your experiences, leading to lasting positive change.
Whether you're dealing with immediate challenges or long-standing issues, therapy can help you develop new coping strategies, understand and process difficult emotions, improve relationships with yourself and others, build resilience and self-confidence, and find new perspectives on past experiences. The therapeutic relationship we build together creates a secure foundation for this important work, allowing you to explore and grow at your own pace.
When considering counselling or psychotherapy, it's important to understand the practical aspects of our work together. I aim to make this process as clear and straightforward as possible.
